" The Fisher Building stood out with 75% glass windows and its terra cotta cladding compared to other office buildings in 1896 when it was completed by Architect Daniel Burnham.  The Chicago Tribune noted it "out shined anything of its kind" and was the tallest building of its kind at the time. Architect Charles Atwood designed the collective marine life in playful ornamentation as a play on the 'Fisher' name.  About 4 years before its completion, commuter trains began traveling on the new elevated track alongside ( the EL) - an easier way to get to work. The building's Gothic ornamentation was a " blast from the past "for such a modern skyscraper and was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1976.  What a triumph!
